Development Analyst, Canadian Multi-Family


Reporting to the Head of Development the Analyst will support the development team in day to day project coordination including research, project modelling and analysis, tracking and reporting on all aspects of the development process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to support all development functions, including acquisitions due diligence, impact fees, utility costs, market analysis, construction costs, entitlements, available sources of financing, design methods, etc.
  • Create and update financial models
  • Maintain and improve financial forecast models for current and future real estate development projects and ensure financial models reflect market realities as well as local and corporate expectations
  • Draft internal and external reports
  • Prepare and analyze development data for strategic review by the VP, Development and other Executives
  • Formulate valuations and forward-looking projections in accordance with strategic development plans
  • Prepare and assist in preparation of valuations, due diligence and returns analyses as required for new and existing development projects
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance and updating of project job cost budgets
  • Monthly analysis of budget to actuals
  • Collaborate with Development, Asset Management and Capital Expenditures team members on a daily basis
  • Attend external project meetings and provide support as required


  • 1-2 years work experience in a analysis-intensive position
  • Bachelor degree in Commerce, Finance or similar education
  • Financial and excel acumen
  • Client focused and strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to obtain results in a highly demanding environment
  • Able to handle multiple demands and manage tight deadlines
  • Able to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships, professional and flexible
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and communications skills
  • Strong computer skills with MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Experience in real estate, multi-residential development industry an asset
  • Overtime as required
