Analyst - U.S. Multi-Family

Overview

Reporting to the Asset Manager, the Analyst is responsible for the output and analysis of operational and financial reporting, capital expenditures, acquisitions and dispositions, asset valuations, asset plans, market reviews and operational budgets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze operational data for strategic review by the asset manager and executives
  • Preparation of full quarterly and monthly reporting and prepare any other reporting reasonably requested by the Asset Manager and executives from time to time
  • Assist the Asset Manager in the day to day relations and communications with third party property managers, regional managers, lenders, brokers and consultants
  • Research market trends including leasing comparable statistics and competitive market transaction information
  • Fully analyze financial results and organize them as required for presentation in the quarterly reports and other reporting
  • Take a lead role in the creation of asset plans, internal asset valuations and annual operating and capital budgets in accordance with the asset plans
  • Assist the Asset Manager in the execution of individual asset plans and monitor and track the progress to plan
  • Identify additional revenue enhancing and value creation opportunities for asset plans
  • Analyze expenses including utility consumption tracking and identify cost savings opportunities
  • Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, financing and other transactions
  • Prepare acquisition and disposition summaries for internal parties, joint venture partners, and lenders
  • Assist in the preparation of financing information packages for new acquisitions and existing properties
  • Assist with the co-ordination and review of due diligence activities. 
  • Tracking and managing acquisition opportunities; including retaining relationships with brokers and other potential sources
  • Assist with consolidated portfolio modeling of each investment vehicle and modeling of potential new investment vehicles.  Provide sensitivity analysis for changes in key metrics and variables
  • Assist the Asset Manager and executives as needed with any other property analytical information

Requirements

  • Two years or more of real estate or related field experience
  • Bachelor degree in Commerce, Business Administration or similar education
  • Client focused and strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to obtain results in a highly demanding environment
  • Able to handle multiple demands and manage tight deadlines
  • Good common sense and business acumen
  • Able to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships, professional and flexible
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and communications skills
  • Strong computer skills with MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Experience in real estate, multi-residential sector an asset
  • Occasional travel to US may be required
  • Overtime as required
