Manager, Investments

Overview

Reporting to the Director, Investments (DI), the Manager is responsible for the management and analysis of investment reporting, acquisitions, dispositions, purchase financing, appraisals and strategic management decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze investment data for strategic review by the DI and other Executives
  • Manage the acquisition process including due diligence, financial modeling, acquisition financing and partner approvals. Prepare any other relevant reporting reasonably requested by the DI and Executives from time to time
  • Manage dispositions and internal transfers, including the preparation of valuations, due diligence materials, returns analyses and partner approvals as required
  • Preparation of business cases and/​or presentations for potential investors detailing acquisitions, due diligence findings, dispositions and financings
  • Formulate valuations and forward-looking projections in accordance with strategic asset plans and in conjunction with the Asset Management team
  • Ensure proper transition from the Investments team to the Asset Management, Accounting & Finance teams
  • Ensure effective communication with brokers, lenders and other third parties
  • Lead the quarterly and annual appraisal cycles and other regular reporting including portfolio returns, deal pipeline updates and performance presentations to partners
  • Mentor and oversee Analysts in financial modeling, underwriting and investment analysis

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in an analysis-intensive position
  • Bachelor degree in Commerce, Finance or similar education
  • Client focused and strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to obtain results in a highly demanding environment
  • Able to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Able to develop and sustain cooperative & professional working relationships
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Experience in real estate (multi-residential sector an asset)
