Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and business-savvy Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst (Sr. FP&A Analyst) with strong Power BI development skills to support strategic decision-making and financial performance across the US Multi Family & Canadian Commercial portfolios. This role combines traditional financial planning and analysis responsibilities with the ability to build and maintain impactful BI dashboards and reports. The ideal candidate will work closely with business units, finance leadership, and operations to provide financial insights, forecasts, and reporting that drive results. Experience in the real estate industry is a strong asset. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support short-term and long-term planning.
  • Partner with business leaders to evaluate financial performance, analyze variances, and recommend actions to meet or exceed targets.
  • Support the monthly and quarterly close processes with insightful analysis on revenue, expenses, and key financial drivers.
  • Deliver regular and ad-hoc financial reports to executive leadership, translating complex data into clear and actionable insights.
  • Assist in the preparation of board materials, investor presentations, and strategic planning documents.

Business Intelligence / Power BI:

  • Design and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that visualize financial and operational performance metrics.
  • Translate business processes and data into meaningful visuals that enable better decision-making.
  • Support data automation efforts and streamline reporting processes using Power BI and other tools.
  • Partner with the data team to ensure data integrity, alignment of KPIs, and consistency in reporting metrics.
  • Train and support end-users across departments in accessing and interpreting Power BI reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field. (CPA, CFA, or progress toward these designations)
  • 3 – 5 years of progressive experience in FP&A or financial analysis within the real estate industry — ideally in commercial, residential, or mixed-use asset management, REITs, or property investment.
  • Deep expertise in Power BI — required. With proven ability to design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards, integrate multiple data sources (property-level, portfolio-level, accounting systems), and develop robust data models using DAX and Power Query (M).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, scenario analysis, and automation of data workflows.
  • Strong understanding of real estate financial concepts, including NOI, IRR, capitalization rates, lease analysis, and asset performance metrics.
  • Proven ability in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis at both asset and portfolio levels.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of translating financial and operational data into actionable insights for executives and asset managers.
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset and passion for leveraging data to drive decision-making.
