Accounting Assistant, Corporate Finance (1 Year Contract)


Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller and indirectly to the Executive Director of Finance, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for the following:

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reviewing employee expense reports and ensuring receipts are in compliance with company policy
  • Reconciling and recording all corporate credit card transaction entries and attaching backups
  • Reconciling and recording corporate related expenses such as postage, parking, and cell phones.
  • Reviewing travel expenses and recoverable expenses monthly in detail and prepare reporting schedule 
  • Preparation of monthly accounts receivable entries based on invoices schedule.
  • Preparation of monthly overhead cost allocation based on monthly updated employee list
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly chargebacks for payroll and other overhead costs to associated entities
  • Assistance with posting and reconciling invoices 
  • Assistance with cash flow management – daily, weekly, and monthly cash requirements reports
  • Assistance with various other ad-hoc projects for the Corporate Controller and/or Executive Director of Finance as they arise
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze large amounts of data 
  • Ability to identify problems and present solutions
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal required
  • Works well independently and in a team environment
  • Dependable and willing to meet deadlines and work overtime as required
  • Finance or Accounting degree preferred with 1-2 years accounting/finance experience
  • Accounting software experience; YARDI an asset
  • Excel (V-look up and pivot tables); high level of proficiency required
