Construction Liason


Overview

The Construction Liaison will act as the lead facilitator for all communication bridges between the Asset Management, Capex, Development and external constructions teams surrounding the design/pre-construction, and construction phases of all development projects on occupied sites. This individual will work collaboratively with Residential Administration and third-party property manager to keep them abreast of construction issues affecting tenants.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Attend off-site construction meetings, summarize key findings and communicate to internal stakeholders
  • Support the plan for outreach and communication to the tenant community created by the Residential Administration team
  • Attend tenant meetings where necessary
  • Prepare all support materials for print, web, and tenant presentations.
  • Pro- actively identify/resolve any potential construction related issues and address ongoing challenges in conjunction with construction managers that may affect the tenant community as a result of pending construction activities
  • Prepare and deliver all resident construction notices, informational materials, and electronic communications.
  • Filter local concerns, inquiries, and complaints to Asset Management teams
  • Proactively assess the negative impact of construction activities within the tenant community
  • Coordinate the workplan for all schedules interruptions of service affecting the tenant experience.
  • Keep field office records regarding tenant interactions, including without limitation, complaints received and all correspondence, meetings, and task force minutes.
  • Support the construction leads in the field during site meetings and fielding inquiries as required
Requirements
  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline (urban or environmental studies, planning, communications, business)
  • 2-3 years of directly related work experience or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
  • 5+ years proven experience managing community relations, schedules, and community meetings
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skill are essential
  • Familiarity with graphic software and website applications including website content management
  • Knowledge of communications and tenant relation principles, methods and practices and demonstrated strong communication
  • Analytical and customer service skills through various mediums
  • Familiarity with the principles, methods, practices and terminology associated with residential and commercial construction
  • Understanding of design and construction drawings as well as relevant legislation applicable to the work environment including the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Proficiency in software applications including MS Word, Excel, databases and PowerPoint
  • Sound judgement and excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving and prioritizing skills to anticipate and assess situations/incidents and determine best solution of course of action
  • Class G- driver’s license and ability to drive to project sites and off-site meetings
  • Willing to travel out of province occasionally
