Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, Canadian Multi-Family


Overview

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, this position will be responsible for compiling SCMF-wide financial information, including dashboards, cash position reports and cashflow forecasts, with a focus on developing scalable processes to support the division’s growth. The Manager is a key financial business partner supporting the SCMF senior management and asset management teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate will have relevant knowledge of real estate accounting and financial reporting processes.

Core duties and responsibilities will include:

 

  • Lead the weekly consolidation of cash position/cash availability by portfolio/pool across SCMF, in collaboration with the SCMF Finance team members.
  • Develop consistent and scalable processes for short-term (i.e. current year) cash-flow forecasting across SCMF portfolios/pools for cash-flow management purposes.
  • Implement financial/KPI dashboards providing consolidated and portfolio-level SCMF metrics, keeping end-users in mind.
  • Monitor and report on utilization of credit facilities in relation to cash-flow management, and support the Investment team with various financing initiatives.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the SCMF teams.
  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis, as required.
  • Work with Executive Directors, Finance and other stakeholders to identify process and reporting improvements that will elevate and differentiate the performance of our development activities. Work with Executive Director, Finance and other business leads to obtain necessary approvals to implement recommendations. 
  • People are our greatest assets. This position will act as the agent of change by actively selling the benefits of each initiative. This role will need to spend a significant amount of time understanding stakeholder perspectives, needs and wants in order to sift out the information required to garner buy-in and implement change successfully.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics or Business Administration (MBA an asset)
  • CPA/CFA, or experience that demonstrates sound understanding of finance/accounting 
  • 5+ years in Finance or relevant consulting experience demonstrating similar skills
  • Must have experience working with ERP systems (preferably Yardi) and complex Excel financial models
