Manager, Risk and Insurance


Overview

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the Manager, Risk and Insurance is responsible for participating in the development, updating and maintaining of the risk management framework used by Starlight Investments and its real estate platforms. The incumbent is also responsible for managing all insurance programs including Property, Casualty, Boiler and Machinery, Automobile, Cyber, Directors & Officers and other coverages as well as investigating and managing claims, mitigating risk and analyzing coverage for Starlight Investments across all platforms in North America.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Risk Management
  • Review, update and coordinate Risk Management process and documentation
  • Provide support and risk management process training to various working groups
  • Insurance Portfolio
  • Manage all policies including Property, Casualty, Automobile, Cyber and Directors & Officers with continuous review of policy language, coverage, deductibles and benchmarks and recommend adjustments as appropriate
  • Manage claims and provide quarterly status reports
  • Define policies and procedures and provide training/communication for operating groups
  • Maintain Property, Automobile, Business Interruption Values and Equipment Lists with statement of insured values
  • Support brokers in the marketing and renewal of all insurance programs
  • Review deductible and coverage changes at the time of policy renewal, with recommendations for changes
  • Communicate with brokers, insurers and adjusters to maintain a positive relationship with all groups
  • When appropriate, tender insurance brokers
  • Participate in insurance matters relating acquisitions and financings of property
Requirements
  • 5-10 years experience in a Risk Management position
  • Review, update and coordinate Risk Management process and documentation
  • Provide support and risk management process training to various working groups
  • Insurance Portfolio
  • Manage claims and provide quarterly status reports
  • Define policies and procedures and provide training/communication for operating groups
  • Maintain Property, Automobile, and Equipment Lists with statement of insured values
  • Manage Directors and Officers Insurance, Cyber Insurance,
  • Review policy, coverages, deductibles and industry benchmarks and recommend adjustments as appropriate
  • Support brokers in the marketing and renewal of all insurance programs
  • Review deductible and coverage changes at the time of policy renewal, with recommendations for changes
  • Communicate with brokers, insurers and adjusters to maintain a positive relationship with all groups
  • Tender the brokerage of insurance programs to select the best brokerage services
