Communications Manager, Marketing


Overview

This role is tailormade for a high performing communicator with a passion for customer experience. They are responsible for leading integrated communication strategies that support organizational priorities while stewarding the Starlight brand and reputation. The successful candidate is the champion of resident relations and engagement programs across Starlight Investments portfolio or properties. The position’s scope spans online reputation management initiatives, overseeing customer relationship management and lead management system implementation, providing educational tutorials to partners, and reporting on key performance indicators to stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

Property Level Marketing 

  • Champion resident relations and engagement programs at properties by creating and implementing scalable frameworks for property management firms to roll-out nationally
  • Establishing comprehensive online reputation management program with a focus on Google ratings across our portfolio with a focus on implementing best-in-class practices
  • Educating property management firms on latest property technology software updates (e.g. Lead Management) ensuring implementation and integration to drive lease-up
  • Oversight of resident appreciation events, open houses (with leasing team) and the renewal process
  • Assist in establishing Starlight Investments’ service standards manual and conducting resident surveys to drive actionable insights portfolio-wide 
  • Monitor and evaluate program performance and maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting to ensure KPIs are met and actional insights are derived 
  • Compiling property management monthly follow-ups to ensure follow through on communication programs and activations

Corporate Marketing and Communications  

  • In partnership with the Director of Marketing, you will develop and lead the implementation of a marketing and brand communications plan to support the overall strategic direction of Starlight Investments and effectively communicate our company key messages to core audiences
  • Plan and generate effective, engaging, and consistent content for web, social and other electronic communications including the curation of a company content calendar for LinkedIn 
  • Support day-to-day tasks where needed such as preparing presentations and proofreading
  • Proactively seek opportunities to highlight Starlight Investments in relevant publications including thought-leadership pieces 
  • Stay abreast of current market trends and storylines ensuring Starlight Investments has a voice in key conversations as appropriate
  • Support in the development of external communications, PR and media relations strategies working closely with agency partner
  • Write, edit, and coordinate content across multiple channels including email, intranet, social, pitches, press releases and Starlight website working closely with the Marketing Coordinator
Requirements

Experience

  • Degree/Diploma in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business or related experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Communications and or Marketing including 3+ years’ experience in Public Relations (agency or in-house)
  • You have experience building strategic, multi-channel plans, and writing brand messaging that ties back to larger business objectives.
  • You have working knowledge of real estate industry award programs

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills including writing, editing, and proof-reading
  • Skilled in PowerPoint – you can build your own presentations without heavy reliance on internal or external design support
  • A well-honed ability to create, develop and disseminate compelling content for channels such as intranet, blogs, email, social media and websites
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, high-pressure, fast-paced situations, flexible with changing direction and prioritization, and proficient at managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent judgment, decision-making abilities, interpersonal & analytical skills, evaluating options, and generating solutions
  • Confident, articulate, organized, detail-oriented, goal-oriented, self-motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
