Coordinator, Health and Safety


The Health & Safety (H&S) Coordinator will work across the organization, both at the corporate and operational levels, to drive the execution of occupational health and safety initiatives that result in regulatory/legislative compliance, and a safe, healthy, and secure environment for employees, vendors, contractors and tenants across Canada.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety evaluations of Starlight project sites using documentation and standardized processes
  • Ensure that sub-contractors adhere to required safety standards in keeping with Starlight Contractor Management documentation
  • Perform accident and incident investigations as per the company’s health and safety programs
  • Assist with the coordination of H&S training and preparation of handouts and materials in accordance with training matrix
  • Participate in updating safety training programs and in-house policies, maintaining safety records and internal buildings Hazardous Materials Management System
  • Administer Starlight’s National AMP
  • Review DSR reports for risks and recommendations
  • Assist in the leading the Office JHSC and develop monthly safety talks
  • Monitor Starlight’s painting staff and associated safety documentation
  • Audit safety documentation for Construction Projects
  • Maintain in-house Health and Safety supplies and order new supplies
  • Distribute risk documentation i.e Hot Work permits
  • Ensure all locations have up to date H&S documentation at all times
  • Follow up with site staff to ensure they have current documentation onsite
  • Coordinate contractor and consultant site visits
  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or relevant field 
  • Minimum of one-year experience in the planning, implementation, management and evaluation of health and safety policies and programs
  • Superior communication and time management skills
